Device Fingerprint
Generate the device fingerprint that ADT Pulse requires for login once two-factor authentication is enabled on your account.
Why the Fingerprint Is Needed
Since the introduction of two-factor authentication, a device fingerprint has become a necessity during login.
The portal ties this fingerprint to a trusted device, which lets the plugin sign in on your behalf without repeatedly prompting for a verification code.
Creating the Fingerprint
Starting from v3.4.0, you no longer need an external tool to create the fingerprint. The dedicated Homebridge setup wizard generates it for you.
tip
Because the setup wizard creates the fingerprint, you do not have to make one by hand. Run the wizard from the plugin's configuration screen in the Homebridge Config UI.
Browser Profile and Trusted Device Name
The wizard creates a desktop browser profile using current Stable release information for Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Opera. It does not copy details from the browser you use to open Homebridge.
- Offline fallback — If the current version cannot be fetched, the wizard uses its last verified local version or the browser-version snapshot included in the installed plugin.
- Persistent identity — The generated fingerprint is saved to
config.jsonafter setup; later browser releases do not change it automatically. - Portal device name — The new trusted device appears as
<Homebridge instance name>.<UUID>. The unique ID avoids timestamp-based name collisions, and the portal still rejects duplicate names.
The fingerprint Field
The generated value is stored in the fingerprint field of the ADT Pulse platform block in your config.json.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
fingerprint | The device fingerprint generated by the setup wizard and used to log in. Required. |
Here is where the field sits within the platform block:
{
"platforms": [
{
"platform": "ADTPulse",
"name": "ADT Pulse",
"subdomain": "portal",
"username": "user@example.com",
"password": "Mys7r0nG!P@ssw0rd",
"fingerprint": "VGhpc0lzQVNlY3VyZVBhc3N3b3JkMTIzIQ=="
}
]
}
Generating a New Fingerprint
If you need a fresh fingerprint, re-run the setup wizard and save its configuration. This replaces the old value only when you save.
