Force Arming
Complete Away, Stay, and Night arm requests automatically through force arming whenever the plugin detects active motion or open sensors.
How Force Arming Works
The Home app relies on the HAP protocol to establish arm states, and that protocol expects an arm request to succeed. To satisfy it, the plugin force arms whenever it detects active motion or open sensors.
Force arming applies to every arm state exposed through HomeKit:
- Arm Away — Arms the system while treating triggering sensors as force-armed.
- Arm Stay — Arms the system while treating triggering sensors as force-armed.
- Arm Night — Arms the system while treating triggering sensors as force-armed.
This Behavior Cannot Be Disabled
Force arming is always on. Disabling it is not possible, because doing so would result in arming failures without alert notifications.
warning
Force arming is a fixed behavior with no configuration option to turn it off. There is no field in config.schema.json that controls it.
Check Your Sensors Before Arming
If you are concerned about arming with active motion or open sensors, check the status of the sensors in your home before you arm the system.
To review which sensors need attention:
- Open the Home app.
- Tap the dotted circle (
...) located on the top right of the screen. - View the sensors that require attention and resolve those issues.
Resolving flagged sensors first lets you arm with everything in the expected state, rather than relying on the force arm to complete the request.
Automation Considerations
If you have set up automation that arms the system, you acknowledge that force arming will happen. You accept the risk of the system not completely arming itself when a sensor is active or open at the time of the request.
info
Arm Night is only available through the panel itself on ADT Pulse systems, but you can still place your system into Arm Night mode with this plugin. See Arm Night Support for details.
